Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Manuella Tshala learned about inequality and injustice at a young age. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was a young child, eventually settling in Beaverton.
With a steely determination to help individuals feel safe and protected, fight unfair treatment, and right wrongs, Manuella feels privileged to use her education and skills to advocate for and empower her clients. A restorative justice undergraduate class that took place in the Oregon State Penitentiary served as a key turning point for Manuella, and still inspires her to bring compassion, empathy, and understanding to her legal work.
While in law school, Manuella held the position of Executive Editor of the “Oregon Review of International Law” (ORIL). She first joined Allegiant Law as a Multnomah Bar Association Fellow summer law clerk and later served as a certified law clerk for the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office in the Misdemeanor Unit where she prosecuted arraignments, plea deals, and misdemeanor hearings. During her final year of her studies at Oregon, Manuella resumed her clerkship at Allegiant and also worked as an extern at the United States District Court, District of Oregon.
Now as an associate, she works on a variety of cases, including those involving abuse of elders and other vulnerable individuals, and legal malpractice claims. Manuella always strives to go above and beyond to support her clients in holding wrongdoers accountable and receiving the justice they deserve.
